What does tagging a question mean?
: a question (such as isn’t it in “it’s fine, isn’t it?”) added to a statement or command (as to gain the assent of or challenge the person addressed) also : a sentence ending in a tag question.
Who is more likely to use tag questions?
For instance, some studies found that men actually used more tag questions than women did. Thus Cameron et al. (1988) looked at tag questions in a 45,000 word sample from a British corpus of transcribed conversations, called the “Survey of English Usage” (SEU).
How do you answer a tag question?
In order to correctly answer a tag question, you must first ask if you agree with the statement or not. If you agree with the statement, it must show in the way you answer that you agree. Now, if the statement contains a negative, and you agree, your answer should contain a negative, that is ‘no’.
