In 5e, each character has two personality traits, a bond, an ideal, and a flaw. These define the character and drive gaining inspiration, serving as a fallback for roleplaying. After the forum reboot, a discussion I was participating in vanished.

They combine the traits, ideals, bonds, and flaws from all of the backgrounds together for easy reference.
Do you have to acknowledge certain personality traits?
Alternatively, characters don’t even have to acknowledge certain traits. Sometimes, they may not be aware of their aggression, or be in denial about it. Or, they just don’t care. This can apply to people in real life as well. Too many people don’t acknowledge their flaws, it seems.
What are the traits and ideals of a character?
Even a one-word answer should suffice. Just ask them to write 5 things about their character: 2 Personality Traits = The character’s likes, dislikes, attitudes, or accomplishments. 1 Ideal = The character’s moral or ethical values. 1 Bond = The character’s connection to another character, group, location, or object.
