Even before domain features, Cleric multiclassing as a secondary class affords light armor, medium armor, and shield proficiencies. Because of the domain proficiencies, Cleric is the only class that can get you heavy armor proficiency at level one as a secondary class.
How does proficiency work with Multiclassing?
Your proficiency bonus is always based on your total character level, not your level in a particular class. For example, if you are a fighter 3/rogue 2, you have the proficiency bonus of a 5th-level character, which is +3.
