If you take any damage while you have 0 hit points, you suffer a death saving throw failure. If the damage is from a critical hit, you suffer two failures instead. If the damage equals or exceeds your hit point maximum, you suffer instant death.
How long does it take to regain consciousness 5e?
At least in 5e, if you’re stable and unconscious, it takes 1d4 hours before you wake up and you gain 1hp. Then you gotta heal and rest as normal from there. In 3.5, is there a way to naturally, on your own, wake up after having been knocked unconscious?
Can you heal someone making death saving throws?
If healing is unavailable, the creature can at least be stabilized so that it isn’t killed by a failed death saving throw. To put it slightly differently, you don’t have to stabilize someone before you can heal them; it’s a backup option if you haven’t got any healing handy.
How do you recover from unconsciousness 5e?
If damage reduces you to 0 hit points and fails to kill you, you fall unconscious. This unconsciousness ends if you regain any hit points. You have to regain at least 1 hit point to end the unconsciousness. A successful Medicine check does not do any healing.
Can you heal an unconscious player?

Can Healing Word revive?
Healing Word does nothing. If the fighter at 10/40 hit points and takes 12 damage, then fails 3 death saving throws before passing 3 death saving throws or rolling a critical success on a death saving throw, they are now dead. Healing Word does nothing.
Can you use inspiring leader during a short rest?
A creature can’t gain temporary hit points from this feat again until it has finished a short or long rest. So yes, they can use this feat once per rest, so it is just a hefty HP boost.
