Something that I haven’t really found is a concrete definition of Hallowed Ground in 5e, which is annoying since it’s such an intricate part of the Feast of St. Andral’s event. Yes, there’s the Hallow spell, but according to its description the effect can be dispelled pretty easily.
What happens to the skull in the curse of Strahd?
When placed in the ruins of the dragon’s castle (he ruled there in Human form) a beacon is lit that will diminish the perpetual cloud cover that keeps the sunlight at bay. This brings hope to the people of Borovia and makes it tougher for vampires to move by day. The only problem is that the skull is INSIDE Strahd’s castle!
