How do you upgrade shields in FTL?
You don’t have to be at a store to upgrade your shields. Click on the ship icon when your ship is in a safe place. You can purchase upgrades to existing systems on that screen. To get level two shields (which means two shield bubbles), you have to upgrade your shield system so it has four bars.
Do shield charge boosters stack FTL?
A Shield Charge Booster improves recharge by 15%, and they stack additively — so three of them improve recharge by 45%. These bonuses are calculated separately and then multiplied together.
Is shield charge booster good FTL?
Shield Charge Booster is decent for when you enter an asteroid field, or they have a combat/beam drone. It also just improves your defenses, which means you take less damage, which is great for diminishing your overall repair cost.
How do you deal with Shields in FTL?
A burst three laser can take down all three of the shields and then a different laser can actually do damage to the ship. Or use ion weapons. If you time your shots and use missiles in conjunction with lasers, you can usually take down the shield subsystem without too many problems.
Can augments stack FTL?
Most of the stat-boosting Augmentations stack with each other. The ones that don’t stack are grayed out in stores if you already own one (or if all your augmentation slots are filled).
What to do if your doors are not upgraded in FTL?
If you do not have your doors upgraded, you can have a crew member to man the system and vent out the rooms that your crew are not in. Crew do not gain skills for subsystems; instead, manning a subsystem increases its level by one. “Cost” is the scrap required to purchase the system at a store. “Max power” is the maximum upgrade level (and power usage) of the system. Manned Bonus?

When to retreat from a critical system in FTL?
If enemies are attacking a critical system and you’re not sure you can vent the room in time, send in a few of your own crew to stall them as the room vents. Retreat your personnel as soon as the room vents. They can easily run out, but the enemy will have to spend time breaking down the door.
