How does multiclassing 5e work?
Multiclassing allows you to gain levels in multiple classes. Doing so lets you mix the abilities of those classes to realize a character concept that might not be reflected in one of the standard class options.
How does spellcasting work with multiclassing?
According to the Multiclass Spellcaster: Spell Slots per Spell Level table on page 165 of the Player’s Handbook, you have access to 3rd-level spell slots. Once they have prepared their spells, they can cast a prepared spell at a higher level following all the normal rules found on page 201 of the Player’s Handbook.
What happens when you multiclass into a Paladin?
When you multiclass your spell slots change to match the table (Pg 165 PHB). Those spell slots are shared between all your spell casting classes and can be used in any combination. You would then have all those slots available for Divine Smite. Example. Gives you 3 spell level for Sorc, and 1 for Half Paladin level.
How many spells can a Paladin prepare at one time?
With a Charisma of 14, your list of prepared Spells can include four Spells of 1st or 2nd Level, in any combination. If you prepare the 1st-level spell Cure Wounds, you can cast it using a 1st-level or a 2nd-level slot. Casting the spell doesn’t remove it from your list of prepared Spells.
When do you increase your ability score in Paladin?
Some Channel Divinity Effects require Saving Throws. When you use such an effect from this class, the DC equals your Paladin spell save DC. When you reach 4th Level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two Ability Scores of your choice by 1.
