Why are there so many dormant Webkinz accounts?
In a blog post earlier this year explaining its decision to begin archiving dormant accounts, Ganz said “millions of Webkinz accounts have been created since we launched in 2005, and for various reasons, many of those accounts have since become inactive. Over time, that has added up to a huge amount of data that needs to be stored.”
Is it possible to play Webkinz after mass deletions?
Even after the mass deletions, Webkinz will still be around. If you restore your account by the given deadline, you’re free to play the game online as usual, and Ganz even developed mobile and desktop apps to support it well into the future. But it’s not clear if nostalgia alone will be enough to keep the site afloat.
Are there any virtual pets left from Webkinz?
The half-physical, half-virtual pets lined the shelves at Target and Limited Too retail stores for years, providing a safe, online space for kids to play and learn. But nearly 15 years after launch, many of those virtual pets may have only days left to live.

When do dormant Webkinz Pet accounts get deleted?
Ganz, the company that owns the Webkinz brand, has announced that it will permanently delete all archived, inactive accounts on October 1st, 2019. If you’ve left your account inactive for more than a year and don’t log in by September 30th, your pet will be deleted forever.
What happens when a Webkinz model is retired?
Webkinz works a lot like the Ty Beanie Babies. After a certain amount of time has passed, the model of toy is retired or they are o longer offered for sale through normal retail outlets. This increases the value of the retired Webkinz.
