Why do Civs denounce you?

Some civs will denounce you when they realise that you are aiming for the same victory type as they are. Other civs who have made a DoF with that certain civ will also denounce you. If you’ve broken a promise (such as not settling near a civ), it will give you a diplomatic hit.

How do I stop a civ from denouncing me?

The best way to avoid having other leaders pick on you is to have a kick-ass and efficient empire. Or, at the very least, have enough military units that you don’t seem like an easy target. Everyone is a predator, and they can sense weakness.

How do you get other civilizations to like you?

Some other things to make the AI like you:

  1. They like you better if the first unit of yours they meet is a scout, rather than a melee unit.
  2. Send a trade delegation, ideally on the first possible turn.
  3. Open your borders to them.
  4. Fight a joint war.
  5. Keep a diplomatic promise.
  6. Liberate one of their cities.

How do I make Civs fear?

They get “afraid” based on a very clear system that is based on global military strength and military strength near their border. Major civs seem to never be afraid unless you build a nuclear weapon. You can literally have 10x the military strength rating of the next highest civ, and this scares no one.

What happens when someone denounces you in Civilization V?

It discredits you. The AI seems to take who is discrediting you into account though. If you’re allied with someone who denounces you, it’ll have a greater impact- same if they’re friends with who’s denouncing you. If they’re at war with the person denouncing you though, they’re unlikely to take it with much salt, or if they’re a warmonger.

Where do you find the denounce option in Civilization VI?

It should be an option on the leaders page, so long as you haven’t declared a friendship with that civ. I may be wrong, but I think the option to denounce is available right from the start, so long as you’ve met the civ. I think I figured out the problem.

What’s the problem with denouncing someone in civ5?

The problem is probably you played Civ5 and expect denoucing to work the same here. It’s totally different here. In civ 5 denouncing someone told the world that you did not like that person and will probably war with them soon. What would happen then is the other civs would listen to your stance and then react to it.

Can a civilization go to war with another civilization?

You can talk to leaders even if you’re at war with them, but only to try to negotiate peace. Negotiations with civilizations are possible from the start. However, certain high-level actions (such as signing treaties) will only become possible after certain Technologies have been researched.
